Classic Disney Books

Classic Disney books have been favorites for children and adults since the 1930’s. Some of the original books are collector’s editions and are worth thousands of dollars. These books may have a monetary value; however, one cannot put a price on the enjoyment that millions of people over the years have derived from reading them.

Classic Disney Books

Disney has released many books, most of them based on their animated movies. Classic Disney is defined in many different ways, but for many people, classic Disney is any book or character created while Walt Disney was still alive. Others consider a Disney classic any character that was created prior to Disney’s collaboration with Pixar in 2006. The definition of the word classic refers to anything that is of the highest quality, style or rank, which inspires and has enduring quality. Therefore, a classic Disney book could be any one of their books that have inspired and endured in our hearts and memories.

Disney Comics

Disney’s first book was a comic book, published in 1930. It was titled The Mickey Mouse Series, written by Walt Disney. Walt added Donald Duck and Scamp the Dog from Lady and the Tramp to his comic book collection over the next couple of years.

Read-Alongs

In the mid 1960’s, Disney produced storybooks accompanied with a vinyl record. These books were narrated, had sound effects, and music, so kids could read along with the book. Most of the books were adaptations of classic Disney movies and cartoons, such as Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Mary Poppins, The Three Little Pigs, and Peter Pan. Tinker Bell’s famous twinkle was the sound that indicated it was time to turn the page.

Disney Children’s Book Club

Disney Children’s book club is an online interactive program of Disney’s classic books. These books, though similar to a Disney Read Along from the 1960’s, have evolved to keep up with today’s tech savvy generation. Children can read along with over 500 of the most popular Disney stories. Interactive tools, music, sound effects, and animation make the books exciting and memorable, while teaching reading and comprehension skills. Parents can read along and monitor their children’s reading progress.
